US Couple Reveals Shocking Tale of Hiding Hacked Crypto from Bitfinex

According to a news article by CyberNews, a husband-and-wife duo pleaded guilty in an elaborate scheme to launder stolen money from a 2016 crypto hack involving Bitfinex. Conceding guilt, the pair confessed to laundering funds from Bitfinex hack by burying gold and burning documents in Kazakhstan. Moscow-born US citizen Ilya Lichtenstein admitted to hacking the exchange and enlisting his wife, an online rapper named Heather Morgan who has gone by the alias “Razzlekhan,” to help conceal some 119,754 stolen bitcoin. Six months post-heist, Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Rhiannon Morgan gained access to the stolen funds from the Hong Kong exchange. They used crypto wallets and Walmart gift cards to launder the stolen Bitfinex cash1. Additionally, Lichtenstein confessed to converting stolen crypto into gold coins, which Morgan subsequently buried. They have informed law enforcement about the location where they stashed the loot.
